Technical Experience Overview
My technical experience is the bedrock that I have built my career upon. The knowledge gained during these different phases of my work history has given me an extra boost in every aspect of my career. Each aspect of this unique and varied career path has taught me something new.
Navy (Technical Foundation)
My career started right out of high school when I enlisted in the United States Navy. I went to the Navy’s basic electricity, advanced electricity, radar, communications, and 2M micro miniature solder schools. In these schools I obtained a world class education in electronics. I was then assigned to the USS Fife followed by The USS Kinkaid. Being an electronics technician at sea presents a unique set of circumstances. You are all by yourself and do not always have someone you can go to for help. You have to be adept in your troubleshooting. This helped me grow as a electronics technician and learn to work independently.
Aerospace (Organizational Thinking)
I worked at both Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space and Ball Aerospace. Working in the aerospace field has it own unique aspects. You have to be able to read, write, and follow procedures and directions. You have to do things in a precise order or it could fail. This enabled me to enhance my technical writing ability and modified the way I think. This had a direct impact on they way I create training. It instilled in me a logical and methodical way of approaching any project.
Manufacturing (Adapting to an Ever-Changing Workplace)
In the Manufacturing field things change fast. You have to adapt to changes. Because of these changes you must have your thoughts and plans organized or you will not be able to keep up. Working in the manufacturing world gives you an understanding that things change. This teaches you how to go with the flow and adapt to an ever changing workplace.
